Who created the world, the universe, all of creation? God did! And when we look back to the beginning of the Bible where it talks about God creating the Earth and all creation, we learn two things: first, we learn that all creation is good and loved by God. That means everything; everything from the sky, to the water, to the plants, to the trees, to the animals, to the birds, to the sun, moon, and stars, and even each one of us, was created by God and God said it was all good. And even more than that, all these things are loved by God. Next, we learn that the creation God made and loves, God has given to each one of us to care for and to love. That means not only are we called to love and care for other people, such as our neighbors and our enemies like Jesus calls us to do, but we are also called to love and care for all of God’s creation: plants, forests, rivers, the ocean, the air, animals, everything, all Creation!
As Christians, we are called to be good stewards of God’s creation and one way to demonstrate our faith in God is by actively taking care of creation. Recently, my family and I have been making changes in our way of life. We’ve sought out ways to conserve energy and water, reduce our waste, and decrease the amount of toxins that we use that are both bad for us and the environment. And there is so much more we can do to ReNew and change our world! And I want to invite you all to journey with my family and me into a “Fuller and Greener” life! And what better way to start then with ReNew VBS!
In Christ,
Rev. Alecia Fuller

I’m Theo and I have an extra special message to share with all the parents and boys and girls who attend or are interested in attending the church school at The Neighborhood Church.
One of my favorite activities apart from walking on the beach, napping in the sun, having my belly scratched, and playing fetch is digging through the Bible. Now I am not your ordinary dog friend; for starters I can talk and secondly, when I say I like digging through the Bible I don’t mean tearing it up with my sandy pawls. No, I mean I like to dig up, or as you humans call it read, the stories of our faith from the Bible and learn all about what it means to be a Christian and follow Jesus. That’s why they call me the “Faith-retriever!” Read More.

The final week of this month, June 28-July 2, we will be having our annual Vacation Bible School here at the Neighborhood Church and we are Going GREEN with ReNew! We will be digging into a story from the Bible called the Parable of the Sower and will be learning how to put our faith in God into action as we begin to Renew our Earth. I am so excited because its going to be so much fun as we explore all kinds of different ways to take care of God’s creation through art, Bible studies, music, games, exploring nature, and even snacks! And...I want to invite everyone to join us as we grow in faith, have fun, and change the world at VBS! Click Here to check out just how much fun we had last year! And this year is certain to be a blast and I know you don’t want to miss out! So, once again here are the details:
*ReNew VBS 2010: June 28-July 2 from 9:00 to 11:30.
*Children ages 3-3rd grade at $50.00 per child.
*But the fun doesn’t stop with 3rd graders. Anyone from 4th grade and up, that means 4th and 5th graders and even you youth out there both in middle school and high school, are invited to join in on the fun as leaders! What better way to start giving back then to serve as a leader sharing the love of God with the children at VBS? And it’s free and well might even look good on that college resume! And as for all you adults who I know are children at heart, we need your help too with purchasing supplies, setting up, and even leading during the event.
*Register Now to participate or volunteer! Then simply hand it to me or Myra outside the church school building during the Sunday coffee hour, mail it in, or drop it by the church office at your convenience. But hurry, the deadline is June 20 and I know you don’t want to miss out on the fun!

Children's Choirs
All children 4 years old through 6th Grade have the wonderful opportunity to be part of the children's choirs. The program takes place on Tuesday afternoons September through the middle of June. Not only do the children meet to prepare music to share during church services, but they are also part of a musical experience where they begin to learn the basics of singing and musical notation. They present a 45 minute musical in June as a fun culmination of their work in the winter and spring.
FUN Group is for children 4 years old through 2nd grade and it meets from 3:30 to 4:30 on Tuesdays.
Hosanna & Music Makers is the choir for children in 3rd through 6th grades. It meets from 4:30 to 5:30 on Tuesdays.
Tuesday afternoons are very joyful at Neighborhood Church! Children are welcome to join at any time of the year - not just in September! Just show up Tuesdays. Please contact Mr. Dave at the church or Ms Ellen at 310-372-3412 if there are any questions!
